Why Should Jewish Students Need to Lean about Free Speech?
One of the best things about Jewish tradition is that it promotes debates and disagreement. It allows everyone to express their thoughts and views even if they are not acceptable to someone else. However, unfortunately, it feels that the seminal import of civic discourse is being long on several young Jews who are currently enrolled in colleges and universities around the nation. According to a survey, Jewish students at many universities are actually leading the charge to shut down the ideas of others. The data shows an incline in the number of students who try to disrupt and shut down speakers when they visit the campus. One-third of the students can think of situations where such behavior can be acceptable sometimes and the rest can face cases when shouting down others isn’t acceptable.
